Let me put it this way, if you had no experience (or not sufficient experience with projects), I wouldn’t hire you as a PM no matter which degree you have. What you must realize and remember is that books and college teach you theory, which although important is no substitute for actual knowledge which comes from direct invovlement at the job. Books = Theory, Field = Facts. Even if you have no experience ‘managing’ projects but you have been involved in projects at varying levels of responsibility and exhibit satisfactory know-how of related technology/industry, I would consider you for a PM role, doesn’t matter if you haven’t a degree in project management. Of course, a lot depends on your other skills too, such as people handling, soft skills, decision making capability, personal force, etc. I wouldn’t peril the success of my project just because you look good on paper.
